Rooting Guide For Tonight

As a public service to my loyal readership (both of you) ;-), I offer the following NHL Viewing and Rooting Guide for tonight, since your CBJ are not in action.

Please utilize all means necessary (beads, voodoo dolls, simple prayer, etc.) to root tonight for the following results:

Phoenix over Dallas

Calgary over Anaheim

Colorado over Minnesota

Montreal over Edmonton

This ends today's public service announcement. Thank you for your cooperation.
Go Jackets!!

A nice public service announcement! This is witty! :-)
I bet these days all CBJ fans (for that mattere, all the fans of 5th-15th place teams) must be doing the same thing when they see the scheduled games of the day in the morning -- "Hmm, who should lose tonight?"

Voodoo !!!

Did NOT wager on Jackets here. Never when they are the favorite. Jinx you know.

Do you think Dubie will play this weekend? May Sat @ Car?

And the best part is your a phenoix fan tonight and tomorrow night you then root against them. Because lets be honest, who stops with only tonights schedule, you have to think a few days out because one 3 other teams have to make the playoffs as well. It only took 9 years but this is finally what it feels like to be in the middle of a real playoff race.

soultrain -- you are right about looking ahead, but you can drive yourself crazy over this stuff. Rooting for other teams to tank is an insurance policy. For me, there are a couple of simple truths:

1. We have 57 points now, 28 games left, and 90 looks like it will lock a playoff spot, and possibly 88.

2. If we go 2 games over .500, i.e. get 16 wins, and make 1 loss an OTL, we are at 90.

3. My favorite is still the 60% rule. Win 6 out of 10 games for the 35 games after the All Star Break, and you end up with a minimum of 91 points (based upon the 49 we had at the break). Right now, we are 4 - 3 for our first 7 after the break, so need to win 2 of the next 3 to be on pace.

Still never hurts to be a fan for the other games. Insurance is a good thing . . .

I think it is probably better to cheer for Dallas tonight over Phoenix, and then cheer for Phoenix to beat Vancouver tomorrow. I think Dallas has put it in overdrive, so I'm starting to think they are going lock up 5th, and it's 6 thru 8 that are up for grabs. Regardless, I will cheer for whoever is up in the third - no 3 point games!
